Introduction

Although we would always recommend reusing the packaging to give it another life, if it does need to be disposed of, here is a guide relating to the products we sell from our Etsy store. If you ever have any questions about our packaging, we will try our best to answer them via Etsy.

Pine/Fir/Spruce Cones

The pine/fir/spruce cones are the least complicated. They will arrive in a recyclable cardboard box made from sustainable resources, sealed with eco-friendly tapes which can be recycled along with paper and card (though the packaging label on top will be attached with 100% recycled plastic tape). The cones are protected with either repurposed Kraft paper, or 80% recycled Kraft paper.

Potpourri

The potpourri comes in an unbleached Kraft paper bag, with a window made of a compostable and biodegradable plastic called ‘Natureflex’, which is made from wood pulp. We advise you keep the bag away from heat and direct sunlight until you are ready to dispose of it, and do not freeze.

The bag (the Kraft paper and the ‘Natureflex’ plastic) can decompose after a few weeks in a home compost or landfill. As such, please make sure to place the bag in a compost/food waste bin rather than recycling when you have finished using it.

Like our cones, the potpourri delivery parcel is also a recyclable cardboard box made from sustainable resources, sealed with eco-friendly tapes, which can be recycled along with paper and card. It will have a packaging label on top, attached with 100% recycled plastic tape.

Pressed Flowers/Foliage

The pressed flowers/foliage arrives in a recycled C5 envelope made from 100% post-consumer waste, sealed with a vegetable-based adhesive. For added protection, we also use eco-friendly tape which can be recycled along with paper and card. The postage label is attached with 100% recycled plastic tape.

The pressed flowers and foliage themselves are placed on recyclable card, supported by a reused corrugated card to prevent bending covered in 80% recycled Kraft paper, taped together using a recyclable eco-tape. As such, all the paper and card content, including tape, can be placed in the recycling to dispose of.

All of this is wrapped in an EN13432 certified biodegradable and compostable plant based plastic called ‘Nativia’. As ‘Nativia’ is a bio-plastic, please do not leave the pressed flowers/foliage packs in areas of high heat, moisture and light. If the plastic pack gets wet, wipe dry immediately. ‘Nativia’ decomposes best when sent for industrial composting through your council’s green/food waste bin, though can also breakdown in a home compost if given enough time, moisture, micro-organisms and oxygen.

Finally, the ‘Nativia’ wrap is sealed with a heat sealer - no glue used!

Freebies

We often add small freebies to our products, which can also be disposed of in an eco-friendly way.
